What is Bar?
A unit of pressure measurement. 1 bar is approximately equal to atmospheric pressure at sea level (1 bar ≈ 14.5 psi).
It is created by Wilhelm Bjerknes in the 1900s to find air pressure, its mainly used in weather reports.
What is PSI?
A pressure unit used mainly in the U.S., measuring force exerted per square inch of an area.
Psi comes from the old Imperial system and mainly used in the america and britain. It calculates how much force is applied to a small area, like in car tires or gas tanks.
- 1 bar = 14.50 psi
- Example Scenario:
- A car tire has a pressure of 2 bars.
- To convert to PSI:
2 × 14.5038 = 29.0076 psi
- So, 2 bars ≈ 29 psi (common for car tires).
